Charvaka Vidya Peetam (now Asramam) was established in 1973 by Charvaka Rama Krishna as a school with an alternative educational methodology that promotes scientific temper, critical thinking and social responsibility among the people.
Over the next few decades, Charvaka Asramam educated thousands of students. The place soon became a platform for alternative culture, produced literature, conducted Nasthika Melas, and hosted hundreds of inter-caste and interfaith marriages to promote socio-cultural harmony among the masses.
Socio-cultural and Economic aspects are two faces of the same coin. Both the reforms should coexist and compliment each other.

To add nativity, confidence, and responsibility among the pupils, the statues of ancient Indian materialists, socio-cultural reformers, and revolutionaries who fought against the oppression of religion, caste, and class are installed here at Charvaka Asramam. You can find them in our Gallery.
Charvaka Asramam held classes, meetings, and demonstrated magic shows disproving the superstitions such as Banamathi, Chetabadi, etc.
Protests and agitations are done against self-proclaimed godmen like Sathya Sai Baba, Jillellamoodi amma, Balayogi of Mummidivaram, kali Krishna Baba, and Bala Sai Baba.
In 1990, Ramakrishna Mastaru with the help of his friends and students organised Sambuka Ratha Yathra challenging Ram Rath Yatra. The intention was to educate people against the propaganda of Rama Rath Yatra, which is nothing but imposition of Caste hierarchy and the oppression of the common man in the name of imaginary Dharma.
God is born out of Ignorance, and Religion is created to Exploit.
